The rapid test to detect dirofilaria immitis in dogs
TEST INSTRUCTION
Further information
The Fassisi CanDiro is an immunological rapid test that detects antigens of the pathogen Dirofilaria immitis (canine heart worm) in blood of dogs.
The parasite is mainly found in America and the Mediterranean, but it is expanding throughout Europe. The pathogen is transmitted by various mosquito species. The parasite matures in the insect host over several stages and is then passed on to the mammal by inhalation. After further stages of development, the heartworm settles in blood vessels and finally in sections close to the heart. A full-grown heart worm can grow up to 30 cm long.
In case of a suspected infection with Dirofilaria immitis, the animal should be tested as soon as possible to fight the parasite as early as possible.
* Antibodies are produced firstly after 6-7 month, so that the rapid test can only be used successfully after that time.
Cryptosporidium parvum is an oval small intestinal parasite that causes diarrhoea. The pathogen causes cryptosporidiosis, which can also affect humans. Infected animals, as it happens with Giardia, continuously excrete the corresponding pathogen through the faeces, which causes, that the pathogen spreads and infects other animals.
Both Giardia and Cryptosporidia often lead to slimy, mushy diarrhoea and vomiting, and the symptoms of both diseases are often similar.
The Fassisi CryGiDia Test is particularly useful for the detection of mixed infections or if it is unclear which diarrhoeal disease the animal is suffering from.
Fassisi is exclusively distributed in the Benelux by:
