The Fassisi TetaCheck is a qualitative test for checking the tetanus antibody titre in horses. The detection limit of the test is 0.1 IU/ml (reference WHO standard) in serum/plasma or whole blood. A tetanus antibody concentration of < 0.1 IU/ml does not provide a sufficient vaccine protection. The intensity of the test strip provides informations about the antibody concentration in the tested sample. Thus the perfect time for a booster vaccination can be determined and an efficient vaccination management can be planned and realized. 

Especially for foals it is important that a booster vaccination is only carried out when the antibody concentration is low, otherwise a lifelong inadequate vaccination protection can be the result. Also with adult animals too frequent repeated vaccinations should be avoided. This can also lead to an insufficient vaccination protection and vaccination reactions. The titre controls can be used as rapid tests before emergency vaccinations, for example in hospitals, for serious injuries directly on site, in breeding and at sporting events.
